Vegetable and Wild Rice Spring Rolls
Vegetable and Wild Rice Spring Rolls are a healthy and delicious way to enjoy your favorite Vietnamese flavors. These spring rolls are made with whole wheat spring roll wrappers and filled with a mixture of cooked brown rice, shredded carrots, cabbage, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, onion, and fresh cilantro. They are then steamed until cooked through and served with your favorite dipping sauce.
The history of the spring roll is a long and winding one, dating back to the Han Dynasty in China over two thousand years ago. Spring rolls were originally a way to preserve food during the winter months, when fresh vegetables were scarce. The rolls were made with a variety of vegetables, including carrots, cabbage, and onions, and were then wrapped in a thin sheet of dough and fried. Over time, spring rolls became a popular street food in China and Southeast Asia, and they have since become a staple of Vietnamese cuisine.
