The history of almond butter cups is a long and winding one. It is said that the first almond butter cups were created in the early 1900s by a woman named Ruth Graves Wakefield. Wakefield was a chef at the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. One day, she was making chocolate chip cookies when she ran out of chocolate chips. In a moment of desperation, she substituted almond butter for the chocolate chips and the rest is history. Almond butter cups quickly became a popular treat and have been enjoyed by people of all ages ever since.
