Ingredients
1 cup dried peas
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes
Instructions
Soak the peas in water overnight.
Drain the peas and rinse them well.
Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
Add the onion and cook until softened.
Add the garlic, ginger-garlic paste, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cook for 1 minute.
Add the tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
Add the peas and enough water to cover them.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the peas are tender, about 20 minutes.
