Ingredients
  • 1 lb mussels, scrubbed and debearded
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Instructions
  1. Rinse the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and sauté until translucent.
  4. Add the garlic and ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Stir in the biryani masala, turmeric powder, and red chili powder.
  6. Add the mussels and cook, stirring occasionally, until they open.
  7. Strain the rice and add it to the pot.
  8. Add enough water to cover the rice by about 1 inch.
