The inspiration for this recipe came from a trip I took to Japan a few years ago. I was particularly impressed by the way the Japanese cook fish. They have a knack for getting the fish cooked perfectly, so that it is moist and flavorful without being overcooked. I also love the way the Japanese use simple ingredients to create complex and delicious flavors. This recipe is my attempt to recreate some of the flavors and techniques I experienced in Japan.

Why It Works
  • The orange-sesame glaze is a perfect complement to the salmon. The orange juice adds a bright and citrusy flavor, while the sesame oil adds a rich and nutty flavor.
  • Marinating the salmon in the glaze for 30 minutes allows the flavors to penetrate the fish and results in a more flavorful dish.
  • Baking the salmon at a high temperature helps to create a crispy exterior while keeping the inside moist and flaky.
