Legend has it that Patna litti chokha was created by a group of farmers who were working in the fields. They were hungry, but they didn't have any food with them. So, they gathered some wheat flour, sattu, and brinjals, and made a simple meal. The dish was so delicious that it quickly became a favorite of the farmers, and it eventually spread to the rest of Bihar. Today, Patna litti chokha is a popular dish all over India.
