This vibrant green smoothie is not just a delicious way to start your day; it's also a powerful anti-inflammatory beverage that may help to quell the symptoms of Crohn's disease. Green tea is a rich source of antioxidants, which have been shown to reduce inflammation throughout the body. Ginger is another potent anti-inflammatory, and it can also help to relieve nausea and vomiting, which are common symptoms of Crohn's disease. Coconut yogurt is a good source of probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that can help to improve gut health. Frozen banana adds creaminess and sweetness to the smoothie, while chia seeds provide fiber and healthy fats. Honey or maple syrup adds a touch of natural sweetness, and ground turmeric and black pepper add a boost of anti-inflammatory power.
I first developed this smoothie when I was struggling with a particularly bad flare-up of Crohn's disease. I was desperate for something that would help to reduce my inflammation and ease my symptoms, and I knew that green tea and ginger were both powerful anti-inflammatories. I also knew that coconut yogurt was a good source of probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that can help to improve gut health. So I threw all of these ingredients into a blender, and the result was this delicious and healing smoothie. I've been drinking it every day since, and I've noticed a significant improvement in my symptoms.
