The history of pumpkin pie in the United States dates back to the early 17th century, when English colonists brought their pumpkin pie recipes to the New World. The first recorded recipe for pumpkin pie in America appeared in a 1670 cookbook called "The Accomplisht Cook." The recipe called for a simple filling made with pumpkin, milk, eggs, and spices. Over time, the recipe for pumpkin pie evolved, and by the 19th century, it had become a staple of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Today, pumpkin pie is a beloved American dessert that is enjoyed by people of all ages.
