The idea for this recipe came to me one day when I was looking for a healthy snack to take on a hike. I wanted something that was portable, easy to eat, and wouldn't weigh me down. I also wanted something that was flavorful and satisfying. Inspired by all the jerky lovers out there, I set out to create a vegetable version that would be just as delicious and satisfying, but without all the added sugar and preservatives. After a few rounds of experimenting, I finally came up with this recipe for air fryer vegetable jerky. It's made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. Plus, it's a great way to use up leftover vegetables.
Prep time: 15 | Cook time: 20 | Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 pound of vegetables (such as carrots, celery, zucchini, or sweet potatoes)
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 200 degrees F (93 degrees C).
Cut the vegetables into thin strips.
In a large bowl, combine the vegetables, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
Spread the vegetables in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and slightly browned.
Let the vegetables cool before serving.
Why It Works
The air fryer circulates hot air around the vegetables, which helps to dry them out and create a jerky-like texture.
The olive oil helps to keep the vegetables moist and flavorful.
The salt and pepper add flavor and help to enhance the natural flavors of the vegetables.
