The inspiration for this recipe came to me on a trip to Hawaii. I was at a luau, and one of the dishes that was served was kalua pig. Kalua pig is a traditional Hawaiian dish that is made by cooking a whole pig in an underground oven. The pig is seasoned with salt and pepper, and then wrapped in banana leaves and cooked for several hours. The result is a tender and juicy pork that is full of flavor.
