This hearty and flavorful grizzly bear goulash is a perfect meal for a cold winter night. The ground beef is browned in the air fryer, then simmered with onions, garlic, carrots, celery, and seasonings until the vegetables are tender and the liquid has reduced by half. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.
This recipe was inspired by a trip I took to Alaska a few years ago. I was on a guided hunting trip, and we were lucky enough to bag a grizzly bear. We brought the bear back to camp and cooked it over a campfire. The meat was so tender and flavorful, and I knew I had to recreate the dish at home. I experimented with different ingredients and cooking methods, and I finally came up with this recipe. It's not quite as good as the original, but it's close!
Prep time: 15 | Cook time: 25 | Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups beef broth
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped celery
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Brown ground beef in air fryer basket for 5-7 minutes, or until cooked through.
Add onion and garlic to air fryer basket and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened.
Stir in beef broth, carrots, celery, oregano, and thyme.
Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until vegetables are tender and liquid has reduced by half.
Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.
Why It Works
The air fryer is a great way to brown ground beef quickly and evenly.
The combination of ground beef, onions, garlic, carrots, celery, and seasonings creates a flavorful and hearty dish.
Simmering the goulash until the vegetables are tender and the liquid has reduced by half concentrates the flavors.
