These crispy, flavorful chickpea sliders are the perfect party food. They're easy to make, portable, and packed with protein. The jerk seasoning gives them a delicious kick, and the toppings can be customized to your liking. You can make them ahead of time and reheat them when you're ready to serve.
The idea for these sliders came to me when I was on a trip to Jamaica. I was staying at a small guesthouse, and the owner cooked us jerk chicken every night. It was so delicious, that I started to wonder if I could make something similar with chickpeas. After a few experiments, I came up with this recipe for jerk chickpea sliders.
Prep time: 10 | Cook time: 10 | Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1/4 cup jerk seasoning
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 slider buns
Your favorite toppings (such as lettuce, tomato, onion, and avocado)
Instructions
Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the chickpeas to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes.
Add the jerk seasoning and olive oil to the skillet and stir to coat the chickpeas.
Cook for an additional 2 minutes, or until the chickpeas are heated through.
Assemble the sliders by placing the chickpeas on the slider buns and topping with your favorite toppings.
Why It Works
The chickpeas are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
The jerk seasoning gives the chickpeas a delicious flavor.
