Caramelized Banana Bliss is a simple yet delicious dessert that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The bananas are caramelized in a skillet with vegan butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and then topped with chopped walnuts and vegan vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Caramelized Banana Bliss was created by me, a food writer and recipe developer, in my kitchen one day when I was looking for a quick and easy dessert to make. I had some ripe bananas on hand, and I wanted to use them up before they went bad. I also had some vegan butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg on hand, so I decided to experiment with making a caramelized banana dessert. The result was Caramelized Banana Bliss, and it has been a favorite of mine ever since.
Prep time: 5 | Cook time: 5 | Serves: 1
Ingredients
1 ripe banana, peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon vegan butter
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon chopped walnuts (optional)
1 scoop vegan vanilla ice cream (optional)
Instructions
In a large skillet, melt the vegan butter over medium heat.
Add the sliced bananas and cook until they are golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
Sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg over the bananas and cook for an additional 1 minute, or until the sugar has melted and caramelized.
Remove the bananas from the skillet and place them on a plate.
Top with chopped walnuts and vegan vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Why It Works
The bananas are caramelized in a skillet with vegan butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, which gives them a delicious flavor and texture.
The chopped walnuts add a crunchy texture and nutty flavor to the dessert.
The vegan vanilla ice cream adds a creamy and cold element to the dessert, which makes it even more enjoyable.
