The history of mashed potatoes is a long and storied one, dating back to the 16th century. The first recorded recipe for mashed potatoes appeared in a cookbook published in 1578, and the dish quickly became a popular staple in both Europe and the Americas. Over the centuries, mashed potatoes have been made with a variety of ingredients, including butter, milk, cream, and even bacon fat. However, this vegan version of mashed potatoes is just as delicious and creamy as the traditional version, without any of the animal products.
