Bull Kelp and Chickpea Burgers
These chickpea and bull kelp burgers are packed with flavor and texture, thanks to the combination of hearty chickpeas, earthy bull kelp, and aromatic spices. They're also easy to make and can be baked or fried. Serve them on their own or with your favorite burger toppings.
One day, I was walking along the beach and I saw this giant bull kelp washed up on shore. I had never seen anything like it before, and I was immediately intrigued. I picked it up and took it home with me, and that's when the idea for these burgers was born.

Ingredients
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup chopped bull kelp
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the chickpeas. Add the bull kelp, onion, garlic, oats, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Form the mixture into 8 patties.
  5. Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
